Volunteer at The Resolution Ball and get a discounted ticket to one of the hotest New Year's Eve parties in Boston (all proceeds from your ticket will go to YAVA and the Ellie Fund). The Black Tie optional event will be held on December 31st at the Westin Waterfront Hotel. There are numerous 2.5 to 3 hour shifts available between 7pm and 11pm during the night. In order to get the discounted admission rate of $40 (regular pricing starts at $125), you will also need to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation/giftbag stuffing/pizza party on December 30th at the Westin Waterfront hotel from 6pm-9:30pm.
YAVA volunteers are entitled to the same benefits as the guests that purchase a Reception ticket, including:
- Entry into the grand ballroom festivities
- Cocktail reception & hors d'oeuvres reception from 8:30 - 10pm
- Premium cash bar, dancing, midnight toast, cash bar, and party favors
Email Deb, dkatzman@yavaonline.org , for a specific list of available volunteer slots, for more information and to sign up.
We will volunteer on Saturday and then each get two free tickets to The Wine Expo on Sunday! Sign up here.
Please be aware of the following information BEFORE you sign up:
There will be no showing up late or leaving early for this event. If you do not volunteer for the whole timeslot you will need to pay for the 2 tickets to the event on Sunday. All volunteers must be 21 years-old and have valid ID. The Expo is also requiring your email and phone number in order to reserve your volunteer spot. Volunteers will be given a badge. All volunteers will be required to leave a credit card that will only be charged for the two free tickets if the volunteer does not fulfill his or her responsibilities. At the end of the volunteer shift volunteers will be asked to return to the show office to turn in their badge and their credit card information will be destroyed. If volunteers do not arrive for their entire shift the card will be charged on the Monday after the show.

No, it's not going to get darker even sooner, but we do have a change to the calendar. Our volunteering spot at WGBH on Sunday, December 16th, has been moved earlier and will now be from 3:00pm - 7:30pm. Maybe this means you can make it now? If so, sign up here. There are many perks to helping WGBH: great people, fun work, free dinner, and you even get a free year's subscription to WGBH. What could be better? Sign up with your friends too! Woohoo!
We've changed the Calendar page to make it easier to use and update. Check it out.
Let us know what you think, email: yava@yavaonline.org.

The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE, pronounced “nifty”) teaches entrepreneurship to young people from low-income communities to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic, and life skills. The New England Division of NFTE will reach over 1,400 youth this year through programs in high schools and community based organizations.
NFTE is currently looking for volunteers to serve a variety of roles. Guest Speakers are needed to speak about entrepreneurship and/or business-related topics. Business Plan Coaches are needed to work one-on-one with students while they are writing their business plans. Alumni Business Mentors are needed to work with alumni of NFTE who are interested in starting or growing their business.
For more information, please contact Laura Scarlett at 781-239-5863 or laura.scarlett@nfte.com.
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to our December 16th volunteering event at WGBH, YAVA has asked WGBH to give us more volunteer spots. If you tried to sign up for the event and it was full, check the calendar, there is now a space for you. We will keep asking for more volunteer slots as they get filled, so keep signing up and get your friends to help too. Great job everyone!
