The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE, pronounced “nifty”) teaches entrepreneurship to young people from low-income communities to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic, and life skills. The New England Division of NFTE will reach over 1,400 youth this year through programs in high schools and community based organizations. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to our December 16th volunteering event at WGBH, YAVA has asked WGBH to give us more volunteer spots. This morning I was on the T when a gentleman came on asking for spare change. He walked up and down the car asking for spare change until a woman came up to him and handed him some. After that, others followed with more money. But as he walked by a college aged girl she reached into her bag and gave him some food. He thanked her and even stopped to chat.
